​​The ACCPA Compliance Awards


The ACCPA Compliance Award is Africa’s highest honor for compliance professionals and financial institutions. The Award is presented once a year to outstanding institutions and individuals at the ACCPA Compliance Conference. The Award is presented to compliance professionals, financial institutions, and central banks. Nominees and winners of the ACCPA Award are determined using ACCPAScore assessment. ACCPAScore is used to determine the strengths of a financial institutions compliance program. ACCPAScore is also used to determine the knowledge and skill level of the compliance staff. The aggregate ACCPAScore of financial institutions within each country determines the strength of the regime. The regime Award goes to central banks.


Individual Award Categories

The ACCPA Individual Award is specifically intended to recognize compliance professionals who excel in the difference areas of the compliance function at financial institutions. Every year, five exceptional compliance professionals are nominated for each of the individual categories. The nominees are selected in the first quarter of each year and announced to members of the Association. The final recipients are announced at the ACCPA Compliance Conference where the winners are presented with the ACCPA Award trophy. Individuals nominated for the ACCPA Award are expected to attend the ACCPA Compliance Conference to receive their ACCPA Award trophy. The Individual Award Categories include:

     1. AML Professional of the Year


     2. KYC Professional of the Year


     3. Risk Assessment Professional of the Year


     4. Risk & Compliance Professional of the Year


     5. Internal Control Professional of the Year


     6. Compliance Leadership Excellence AwardArticle of the Year Award 


Institutional Award Categories

The ACCPA Institutional Award is specifically intended to recognize financial institutions that excel in the difference areas of the compliance function. Five financial institutions are nominated for each of the categories annually. The nominees are selected in the first quarter of each year and announced to members of the Association. The final recipients are announced at the ACCPA Compliance Conference where the winners are presented with the ACCPA Award trophy. Financial institutions nominated for the ACCPA Award are expected to send delegates to the ACCPA Compliance Conference to receive the ACCPA Award trophy on their behalf. The Institutional Award Categories include:

     1. Best in AML Compliance

     2. Strongest Willpower for AML Compliance

     3. Best in Fraud Protection

     4. Best in Fraud Detection

     5. Best in Fraud Resolution

     6. Best in Risk Assessment

     7. Best in Customer Verification

     8. Most Improved Compliance Program

     9. Most Competent Compliance Staff

    10. Most Comprehensive Compliance Program


Regime Award Category

The ACCPA Regime Award is specifically intended to recognize central banks that are implementing the highest compliance standards within their regime. Each year, five central banks are nominated for each of the categories annually. The nominees are selected in the first quarter of each year and announced to members of the Association. The final recipients are announced at the ACCPA Compliance Conference where the winners are presented with the ACCPA Award trophy. Central banks nominated for the ACCPA Award are expected to send delegates to the ACCPA Compliance Conference to receive the ACCPA Award trophy on their behalf. The Regime Award Categories include:  

     1. Most Sensitized Regime

     2. Most Improved Regime

     3. Most Improved Regime
